If your children plan to enroll in the Advanced Placement History program be forewarned that it has been changed and no longer teaches the traditional history course. Jane Robbins of the American Principles Project warns us that the College Board’s Advanced Placement History Course has been transformed, now that David Coleman, reported architect of the Common Core, is head of the College Board. “Critical thinking” is another one of those terms which have been perverted by the education program developers. They know that parents want their children to become critical thinkers, so they use the term to introduce concepts and lessons to which parents might otherwise object. These incidents happen frequently and have been going on for years. I know, because a similar incident happened in our family years ago. Only now, in these days of instant media, are we able to learn what is happening. Be alert! And maybe you’d like to consider homeschooling–we did, and it was terrific.

“We the People” is a civics curriculum with a patriotic-sounding name, but the title is misleading…

After months of debate, public input, and publicity, the Texas State Board finally adopted the new social studies curriculum.

“….The unelected education ‘experts’ proposed their history revisions such as eliminating Independence Day, Christopher Columbus, Thomas Edison, Daniel Boone and Neil Armstrong, and replacing Christmas with Diwali……”

However, the 2010 Texas State Board of Education voted by a 10-5 margin to reinstate traditional history.
