Foreign-owned Charter Schools – it could happen in Washington State

November 25, 2012

One of the objections CURE had against the recently passed Washington State Charter Schools Initiative was that it created the potential for foreign-owned charter schools. This could come in several forms. One type is a charter school started by foreign businessmen wanting to obtain  US EB-5 visas.

Read about the many charter schools being opened under this program in the Reuters article,  “The new U.S. visa rush: Build a charter school, get a green card” and in the Fiscal Times article,  “Wealthy Foreigners Fund Charter Schools for Visas”.
