The Myth of Charter Schools by Diane Ravitch
November 25, 2012
There are good charter schools and bad charter schools, just as there are good public schools and bad public schools. There is nothing inherently magic about “charter-ness”. Schools and staff which use good curriculum and establish a close rapport with students and parents can be very successful, whether they are charter schools or regular public schools.
We need to keep informing ourselves about charter schools, just as we should continuously monitor what happens in regular public schools. Diane Ravitch’s commentary on charter schools and the efforts to promote them gives us insight into the charter school trend.
