The Common Core State Standards – an online brochure
March 30, 2011
Despite the high cost, the Common Core State Standards likely will not improve student learning. Under this initiative the desire for longitudinal data on every student, teacher, and school takes priority over the needs of the children. The computer assessments will drive the curriculum and dominate the system.
Here is a useful online brochure on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
Unfortunately, the CCSS are slated to go into effect thanks to a bill passed in 2010 (E2SSB 6696) unless the Legislature acts to stop or at least delay their implementation.
