The USA is one of the highest spenders on education in the OECD

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University analyzed the education spending of the nations in the Organisation for Economic Development and Co-operation (OECD), an international organization of 34 member countries. The USA is topped only by Switzerland in this recent analysis, but unfortunately US students do not score as well as other countries which spend less. Read the article and see the graph.
